Juno Beach House
D-Day, June 6, 1944 - Operation Overlord - liberation of Europe
One of the veterans who was in this wave of troops coming ashore on Juno Beach (Photo #1) went back to Normandy two years ago. He walked up to the house on the top right of the first photo which is still standing (photo #2) and is still occupied by descendants of the original family. He knocked on the door, and when the door opened, he said something along the lines of, “I’d like to extend my sincere apologies to you for the huge mess I probably made 68 years ago when I threw a grenade through your lower window and into your basement.”
