Gavrilo Princip was a Bosnian Serb who assassinated Archduke Franz Ferdinand of Austria and his wife, Sophie, Duchess of Hohenberg, in Sarajevo on 28-June-1914. Archduke Franz Ferdinand was the heir apparent to the Austro-Hungarian throne.
